REMINDER! - 2014 Boat Stickers must be on the boat by May 1, 2014

Questions & Answers from the Annual Meeting to the City Councilmen!

1.   1)  Sidewalk in Front of Raintree Clubhouse

A Public Works Field Supervisor investigated the sidewalk at the Raintree Clubhouse, 825 SW Raintree Dr. He found several panels on both sides of Raintree Drive that need to be replaced (see the attached information); however, the sidewalk from the clubhouse to the dock is private.  A work order for these repairs has been generated. The work should be completed within 40 days, weather permitting.

2.  2)  Sidewalk at 512 SW Raintree Drive

A Public Works Field Supervisor investigated the sidewalk at 512 SW Raintree Drive. He found 5 panels that need to be replaced (see the attached picture). A work order for these repairs has been generated. The work should be completed within 40 days, weather permitting. Typically, a Public Works Field Supervisor will attempt to contact the resident on-site when repairs are set to begin.

3.  3)  Stop Sign in Front of Mid-Continent Public Library

The stop sign in front of Mid-Continent Public Library is indeed on private property. Stop signs are not required at private driveway intersections with public streets. The Traffic Code requires vehicles from a private driveway approaching the through street to stop and yield right-of-way to through traffic. Some private property owners install stop signs to reinforce the stop condition, others do not.

4.  4)  Lights Along M-291 North

City Traffic Engineer Michael Park has sent an e-mail to MoDOTís KC district office with a request to look into this item. We do not have any additional information to share at this time but we will send an update when action is taken.

5.  5)  Left-turn Light on M-150 Eastbound at Hwy. 291 North (bridge)

City Traffic Engineer Michael Park has sent an e-mail to MoDOTís KC district office with a request to look into this item. We do not have any additional information to share at this time but we will send an update when action is taken.

Public Works would be happy to discuss these issues and the anticipated repairs (if applicable) with the residents who raised these concerns. They can contact Public Works at 816-969-1800 orpublicworks@cityofls.net, or if their contact information is available and they do not mind it being shared, we would be happy to contact them.

6)  What is the total debt of the city

We have approximately $50 million in outstanding General Obligation debt, another $11 million in authorized but unissued debt for a total of $61 million.  If no new debt is ever issued again this will all be retired by 2028.
